Back in March Martina contacted me to say her and her long time Partner Claus were planning on secretly getting married then flying to London from Germany and were to spend the day enjoying the sights and saying their vows and exchanging rings.
No one knew at all they were getting married NO one.
This was to be a top secret assignment and would I like to be the photographer?
I was beyond excited, I mean I was nervous and excited I couldn’t believe I was going to be a part of this tiny secret wedding celebration
Martina had meticulously planned her route and knew exactly where we were going, and what they wanted to do, she in fact knew the streets of Soho better than me, probably because when i’m normally there I am partying!
We set off just walking and chatting getting to know each other, it felt like meeting up with people I hadn’t seen in years we just got on so,so well.
We headed to the Covent Garden Academy of flowers which is amazing, I could go a little crazy in there teeny tiny Orchids in dainty pots just gorgeous! But we were there for a Bouquet!
Martina wanted Blue and white and the girls in the shop made up a gorgeous little posy for us
At this point Martina was quite literally jumping with excitement! The magical ring was the something borrowed, pretty glad I didn’t drop that down a drain 😉
After we got the flowers we went to the Very British and lovely “Pauls Patisserie” (Yes I know it’s French it’s sarcasm enjoy it 😉 )
Quick posed shot I had a fleeting moment of being that formal girl!
I decided to continue with my posing! Then I gave up as the two love birds lost interest and were just enjoying themselves! So I went back to what I do best and photographing them in love and natural
We walked through St. James park and finally found an Empty bench considering most of Italy and Spain were there it was hard to believe we got the bench but we did!
The crowds were huge but they were brilliant Claus joked how he had so many wedding guests and didn’t have to feed them anything!
It was here they had their champagne and cakes!
After Champagne we all went for a coffee in the pretty Neals Yard and relaxed for a bit!
After this we walked back up to the hotel were Martina and Claus said their vows to each other and exchanged rings
It was at this point I felt truly honoured to be exactly where I was watching two people so in love saying their vows for the 1st time in front of anyone and exchanging rings
You see in Germany you don’t need to say vows if you don’t want or exchange rings so they didn’t they decided to do that all in London.
I don’t need to say anymore because this says it all
Thank you Martina and Claus it was truly and honour to meet you both and I wish you a very, very happy life time together
